(Year 3) Day 133 – Waiting for Hurricane Sandy
We haven’t driven very far at all today (Monday) and that’s because we want to stay out of Hurricane Sandy’s path! We really wanted to get closer to Washington but we’ve decided to stay here in Richmond, Virginia. If the weather wasn’t so bad, I would have loved to have a look around Richmond as the old buildings along the river looked very interesting.
We’ve managed to get some bicycle boxes from a bike store – the 4th or 5th one we visited, which is no mean feat when you are having to drive and park a large truck! So, instead of wasting time this afternoon and this evening in our hotel room, Rog can set about breaking our bikes down and getting them safe and secure in their boxes, for their trip to Chile!!
It’s pretty much a waiting game again – waiting to see how awful Hurricane Sandy will be and whether we can continue with our onward journey on to Washington and then on up to Newark ………… time will tell.

Thanks for your note–glad you are safe. If you are bored in Richmond, take a trip an hour west to Charlottesville, our old hometown, and see where Thomas Jefferson lived. The downtown area is lovely.

Hi Andrea, too expensive and too cold to stay in New York! Nice idea though

What a terrible storm. We thought of you all through it. We have Canadian visitors here who have friends in NJ so we were glued to the tele. Stay safe. Love from us all
