Uzbekistan is really worth a visit, particularly if you are interested in history – the towns of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarqand have so much to offer, the Uzbek people are lovely, the food good and your money goes a long way.

Day 159 to Day 161 – Turkmenistan Transit

Day 159 (Monday 6th September) –  A Yurt for the Night

It took us 1 and a half hours to exit Iran;  waiting, waiting, waiting for someone to put our details into a ledger and to check our passports.  We were then out and in no-man’s land (lots of it), on our way to Turkmenistan.  At Turkmenistan entry there is a ‘sheep dip’ pit but they didn’t want us to go through that (we’d read about this in other people’s blogs!), so it was in to the building with our bikes and trailers to be fairly quickly processed; by the way, we are now +4GMT.   (more…)
